Before the pandemic, our goal was geared towards improving the delivery of nursing care across developing countries through international immersion programs. This program involved partnering with hospitals in the United States and participating countries on an exchange program for nurses. The proposed program exposed international nurses, especially from developing countries to the American healthcare system.
This exposure together with their previous experiences created synergy in the way returning nurses would provide nursing care and teach fellow nurses in their home countries. This created a wave of ideas and actions on how healthcare can be improved in participating hospitals.
Simultaneously, American nurses who took part in the program benefited greatly through the sharing of global nursing skills and cultural immersion from the highly skilled international nurses. Even though there were slight differences in culture, delivery and scope of practice among participating nurses, the nursing tenets, skills and compassionate care were universal hence created an infusion of diverse safe nursing perspectives at the bedside. The severe nursing shortage in the United States during the post pandemic era gave us the opportunity to take a step further to directly fill nursing positions in the United States with surplus international nurses.
Today, we continue to live out this noble idea by being a direct and essential bridge between US healthcare organizations and international nurses.
International nurses whom we have directly placed to hospitals in the US are positively making an impact in communities here and in their home countries.
At Elements, we are solving the nursing shortage one nurse at a time and to see unfilled critical nursing positions in US hospitals filled by surplus international nurses is a win.
